do you get spasms like this?

uk2
Every morning i wake up and my hands are in tight fist and my nails sometimes dig into my hand,my tongue is shoved up into the roof of my mouth and my jaw clenched tight,my rib area is painful and i feel like i have done sit ups i am squashed into a ball and my legs drawn right up to my tummy,i could not even recreate the postions i get into in my sleep!!

i dont think these spasms are MS like but i wanted to sound it out here,i also have spasm in my jaw, throat which effects swallowing, i feel like i have a lump in my throat,i get a hoarse voice and its weak by the end of the day,i feel these spasm in every muscle there is, i am going to see the neuromuscular consultant soon and have made note of these i think my gp is going in the right direction with the referal still have a nagging doubt it could be MS related hope i get some answers as i am down at the moment and after all this time would be good to get some proper treatment.

any thoughts would be welcome. sam x

Hey Val,

Has anyone looked into the idea of epilepsy, one of my daughters friends use to only have epileptic fits in her sleep, she would wake up in strangly un-natural positions, she was dx when she was a teen. Its just a thought......

Cheers JJ

Hi i have looked at this as issacc syndrome/neuromyotonia has been mentioned and these are simular autoimmune neuromuscular problems so i am bracing myself for something like that i did post on the site on medhelp for such disorders but it does not get much attention. thanks

i have heard the tongue thing can be linked to TMJ i think thats how they say it and a guard is a popular thing to do as the teeth get worn down i dont bite down on my teeth or cheecks its just the tongue that does things but i do get a stiff jaw and it tires easy the same as all my muscles.

val-thanks

There has been a few things on tv lately about stiff man syndrome?  Any connections?  Just a shout out!  I'm sure the neuromuscular consult will help!

Hang in there!

Hi Sam,

Blimey that sounds rotten, I don't get anything like that so I can't give much help but at least your Dr has referred you to a specialist, good luck
