dosing for Lyrica

I've asked this same question before about Neurontin, and now wondering the same thing about Lyrica, specifically, is it preferable to divide dosing twice or 3x daily?

I am taking 150mg morning and again at night.  I am wondering if anyone has better effect from taking this med morning, afternoon and night?

BTW, so far, it seems to be working better than Neurontin.  I am still weaning off Neurontin and down to 300mg 3x per day (down from 3600mg daily).  Once I am completely off it, I will know for sure which is the better med for me for my neuropathic pain.

Would appreciate advice on this from anyone also taking this med for the same reason.

Thanks Terry, I think I'm going to give the 2x per day at the 150mg a good effort before experimenting further.  My pain is probably at its height by late afternoon, though I'm concerned about midday drowsiness like you and Ren have experienced.  I too am worried about getting home safely and obviously won't get behind the wheel if I'm feeling high.  My pharmacist said to give it several weeks at this dosage to determine if I'm getting the effectiveness I'm hoping for, so that's what I'll do.  Like you I'm finding Lyrica more effective than Neurontin, and I'm very encouraged by that.  Thanks for your reply!

DV I take Lyrica 100mg 3x daily.  I started out with 50 mg 3x then increased to 100mg 3x.

I never had any problems with the 50 mg dosage but when I went to 100 mg I had to titrate up because to put it bluntly, when I tried all three, at first I was stoned.

So I did the 100 at bedtime and then 50 2x.  After a few days I moved the afternoon dose to 100 ( that was because by that time I usually did not need to drive and I had finished any chores)  Last I added the morning dose.

Titrating it up I avoided any feelings of fatigue or being high.

It dulls my pain, not takes it away, though I wish it would.. Still better for me than the gabapentin.

Again as clear as mud.

take care and live well,
terry

When I was taking Lyrica, I had better success with morning and night dosing (150 mg each). When I tried to add an afternoon dose(100 mg) I found that the increase in fatigue from the Lyrica coupled with my usual afternoon fatigue made it extremely hard to drive the 45 minutes to an hour home in rush hour traffic.

For exacerbations of leg pain I tried a 50mg dose at lunchtime but it didn't help with the neuropathic pain and simply made me unable to focus and concentrate.

Hope this is as clear as mud. Bottom line: It worked best morning and night and additional doses changed my function and thinking to unacceptable levels.
