concerned

Ok in dec 2010 I was diagnosed with bells palsy...lasted only 3 weeks... but 2weeks before that I use to jog at the gym for 15mins and my body felt like it was heating up so fast and became itchy all over my body.. about a yr later ive always noticed how the left side of my face always felt a lil weaker some days..including my neck...when I smile very hard I feel like im puttin a lot of pressureon the left side of my neck. In jan-march ive had swollen lips out of no where about 5 times...my lips just became really swollen and I also broke out in hives during this time...now if I put the bells palsy, itchyness of my body, swollen lips, constant redness of my eyes and hives within the past 2yrs would this be a concern of MS??? I heard that the herpes virus is the cause of bells palsy but can herpes cause all of this?? I do get cold sores and I dont have genitals herpes.

I was diagnosed almost 2 years ago, but according to docs have likely had this disease for several years with many conditions that came along and doctors never put them together. One of those conditions was Bells Palsy. I don't know about swollen lips, but I wish the docs would have tested and discovered the ms then. I could have been on medication and possibly avoided being any worse off than neccessary. It doesn't hurt to ask your doctor just to make sure.

Another common cause of Bell's Palsy is a Lyme Disease infection. Were you tested for HSV1 or Lyme at the time?

Swollen lips, red eyes, hives, and itchyness sounds like a significant allergic reaction.

I'd encourage you to go see a doctor and inquire about a referral to an allergist for allergy testing. While the Bell's Palsy could be from a virus, the other symptoms could indicate an unrelated allergy that you'll want to know about so you can avoid the allergen and/or know to carry benadryl in case of future attacks.
