joint, bone and muscle pain.

I am 26 years old and was disagnosed with MS back in 2012. I never actually knew what to look for when it came to a "flare up", although my optic neuritis was one of my symptoms I knee I had. Last week I had 3 days of IV steroids and figured I would get better....I was wrong! I started to feel this unbearable joint, muscle and bone pain. Everything hurt on my body and just with the simple extention of my arms it hurt to the extreme I wanted to scream. Another symptom I have is a constant feeling of pressure being pushed into my head. I feel like something is tryjng to squeeze my brain out with a random bloody nose. I'm told this is a season change flare up....=(

My question is, has anyone ever felt like this before?

Hi Lizz and welcome to our little MS community,

Has anyone discussed the potential side effects of IV steroids?

I definitely don't think your the only one, who has felt as you are feeling and are unable to sleep! If it wasn't was past my bed time over my side of the world (Australia) I would look up some of the research and other MS steroid stories for you. I'll try and get back to you tomorrow, if you haven't already received something from the other community members, before i get back online.

Cheers...............JJ

I am feeling a little better. My MS hug is slowly feeling better. I don't feel it as intense. This was my first time experiencing the infamous MS hug. Thank you for asking.

TYVM for the feedback all and thank you for the welcoming to the community. <3

My Neuro took me off IV steroids because of the terrible side effects. I am now on Prendison and feeling a little better than before. She is also running some blood tests on me because she thinks I might have had an allergic reaction to the solumedrol.

Hi there & welcome to the MS community,

I also have to agree with both Kyle & JJ in that what you have explained sounds just like the IV steroids to me. The good news is it should settle down in the coming weeks but I would still consult your doc about the way you feel.

I really hope this passes for you soon & that you can get some sleep as well. The insomnia associated with steroids is a real pain as well & only adds to your discomfort.

So to answer your question "Yes many people react badly to steroids & feel this way" so if it's any consolation you are not alone.

Take care & keep us updated on how you are feeling.

Karry.

I'm with JJ. It sounds like you are having a reaction to the IVSM. Here is a link to a side effects summary. Two of the listed symptoms are trouble sleeping and bone and joint pain. I would contact your doc ASAP.
