Hi!
I'm not quit sure what could be causing your problems. Sorry I couldn't be much help but I'll bump your post so other people will get a chance to see it.
Does your lightheadedness feel like your going to pass out or are you dizzy? What happens when your on your feet? Does it change when your lying down?
Sorry for all the questions.
I get lightheaded with movement of my eyes. This has been going on for a few days. It does not happen when I am sleeping.I don't think it happens if I am laying down, don't remember at this moment. I don't feel like I am going to pass out and I felt nausea only once but it went right away.It does make me feel a little dizzy while it is happening. It goes with this whole nightmare of a week. I go to the doctor Monday. maggiesue
Hi Maggie
This sounds like something I was experiencing last fall and a little now. I was just tested and it seems that it could be part of the vestibular system. Having to do with the inner ear and /or optic nerve.
. My dr. will call in e few days , hopefully with some answers... I will try to remember to give you a heads up on what he said ... or you can just ask me if I forget.. :)
I started taking B12 shots and they helped my eyes from the first injection . It does make some sense because B12 is good for the optic nerve. Sorry I don't have any other info than that .
I don't know if any of this has anything to do with what is going on with you .. you should always call your dr. when a new sx., that is troubling , appears
Take care
Jo
I experience something very similar. I will get very brief periods of lightheadedness when I move my head left/right or up/down. I don't get the lightheadedness from moving my eyes though and I don't get it while lying down or turning over in bed.
My neuro ordered a VNG test which showed that I have a peripheral problem and not a CNS one. This points away from MS in my case.
I have also had PT for the lightheadedness and it has helped, but I still need to do my exercises occasionally.
Have you been Dx'd or are you in limbo?
I agree that maybe you should mention this to your neuro. Perhaps he/she could order a VNG test to help determine the cause.
Take care! Pat :)
I do have app.Monday with neuro.Last night was the first night in four nights I had no pain, no heavy legs, stopped crying at everything no leg/feet cramps, no twitches in body. I woke up and things felt good like I came out of a nightmare. Is this a "flair up"? I am still tired.I have never gone through anything like all of this, I feel like it was too much stuff going on to not be one but I would sure like input on it. maggiesue
Oh yes, I still have the lightheadedness. It is when I move eyes or head.maggiesue
I guess it started around Wednesday. I cry at anything all during the day.I had to turn off E.T. last night, I was crying so hard when he kept saying E.T. call home. I give you my word that as soon as I finished the last sentence here, I started crying again. In church today I cried at every song. People wanted to know if I was alright, I did not know what to tell them. I just told friends that I've been this way sence Wednesday, I don't know why but I think it is related to the heavy/dead feeling legs and the drop/drag two steps, body aches, awful painful, lingering, leg and feet cramps, lightheadedness, tired, leg(hip) bones/musle aches in the morning makes me walk heavy from one foot over to the other like a giant....a week like I have never had.Now I am down to the crying and lightheadedness. Does crying go with MS, I don't get it ? I would really appreciate some input on this. Does this week sound like any kind of a MS trip or am I on the train a lone? maggiesue
Uncontrollable emotions (crying AND laughing) CAN be a symptom of MS, aka Emotional Lability. This is described as "excessive emotional response to a minor stimulus." (check out the United Kingdom MS Resource Centre online). In MS, this can be a sign of cognitive impairment.
Then again, you are going through a great deal of stress and anxiety right now. What you are describing may be a perfectly normal emotional reaction to what you are going through.
I'm sure I have cried more in the past 7 months (since my MS dx) than I have in all of my 40 years! The last 10 years or so of my life have been especially happy, content, and relatively stress-free. So the stress of my dx and all of this weeping and emotion has caught me very much off guard. I just try to go with it and let it out. It IS difficult when it comes out around other people. I just avoid social situations when I'm feeling down, which fortunately is less and less frequently as time goes on and I adjust.
When those feelings of deep and profound sadness hit, sometimes it seems they will never leave you. But they will in time, as you adapt to your circumstances. Some people benefit from counselling or pharmacologic intervention when these feelings occur for prolonged periods.
I do think this is worth discussing this with your neuro.

Thank you, I cried over you answering this.I really hope this goes away soon, the hallmark sales on tv during mother's day is killing me.I would like to ask for some details on your double vision. I had double vision for several years back in the seventies. It would come and go all through the day, only last a minute. It was like my eyes crossed and I would grab who was with me and tell them to see my eyes, they are crossed. No one in 4years saw.I lived in Denver, Colorado and went to several eye specialist. They all said they could find nothing wrong with my eyes, it must be my nerves.I was a very happy person then, no bad nerves. Fourteen years later I had hyperthyroid.I asked my wonderful Specialist( I believed saved my life from thyroid hell) if I had Graves decease (which could have caused the double vision). He said no I did not have Graves decease. Can anyone say words about my eyes crossing?MS maybe? I am a sixtyfive year old woman trying to figure out my years coming soon.A lot of head lesions,no in spinal.maggiesue
Hi, again. You are the first person I have found that has dizziness with moving your eyes!! I have had this when I get tired every day for 10 years and periodically since 1983. When I have been too busy at the computer or in a car, I get this feeling.
I can only describe it as a slight, short, almost whirling sensation in my head when I move my eyes laterally. It's worse to the left, but when everything is bad it occurs to the right as well. The whiling sensation is sharp and it starts and stops 3 or 4 times each time I move my eyes.
For 25 years no neurologist knew what I was talking about. Most of them gave me a funny look, started looking at their watches and moving toward the door, lol.
Finally, my current neuro, who is very smart, says this is "Sensitivity to Eye Movement." He said it is usually caused by a head injury or by migraines. This blew me away becasue it started right after a bad concussion in 1983.
I suggest for the other vision problems that make you feel like you are losing your footing or about to fall, that you see a specialist in vertigo or vestibular disorders. You probably need an ENG with tests the balance system and can sometimes tell if it is from the brainstem (like in possible MS) or from the inner ear (not from MS).
I hope this helps!
