perodicity of symptoms

Does anyone have symptoms that get really bad for about a week, then slowly better over a few days, the you wake up one dsy and feel really good for about a month.  Then bang!  The hip starts hurting, pain in the hip keeps you up at night, fllowed by terrible muscle spasms of your feet, ankles, muscles in your lower legs you didnt even realize you have, pretty soon fatigue is at max, even muscles in you fingers spasm.  This lasts about a week, then begins to get better once again.  Period of wellness seems to be abot 3-4 weeks, about a week at the apex of symptoms then back to about a month of relief.?

Having MS does not mean something else isn't going on, also.  Especially another auto-immune disorder such as fibromyalgia or rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, etc.  Only a really great exam and workup could tell what is going on.

I agree with JJ. I would suggest that you see an opthomologist or retina specialist just to rule out the possibility of optic neuritis. MS is a hard thing to diagnose, so Ive been told. Find a good respected Neurologist. Myofacial spasms are a sign of MS but Im not sure about the time lapses in your attacks.Have you had any MRI's of your brain or spine that may have reveled lesions?

Best Wishes to you that you will find the right DR. to help you.

Hi and welcome,

MS relapses have no real time predictability like your experiencing, and if your progression of symptoms is also as predictable, I think it would be highly unlikely to be something like MS. I'm going to suggest the issue could possibly be a structural issue and to consider if there is something your physically doing routinely that could be setting it off.

I noticed in another post though, that you've mention your pupils are unequal and your experiencing double (diplopia) in one eye, facial tingling etc. Unequal pupil size is actually quite common but it could also be a sign of something serious going on and for that alone, i think it would be wise to see your doctor to be on the safe side......

Cheers............JJ
