question re: strange spot in my vision

Has anyone here had a black spot the size of a dime just appear in their lower vision? I could still see except for that small area.  I had that happen last night. It lasted I would say for 45 minutes. It didnt hurt and I didnt have a headache. It was just rather strange. It was also only in my right eye.

Usually black spots are nothing of concern, 'black' spots, black wiggly lines, black C or J shapes are 'most often' just eye floaters, though i don't think floaters would usually get that big. The only other normal thing i know of, that can cause a temporary large black spot or shadow, is from light exposure. I can't recall its technical name sorry, but think of when the dr shines the light in your eyes and it temporarily leaves behind a large dark splodge over your vision.

With today's technology our eyes are often being exposed to similar bright lights eg ereaders, lap-pads, phones etc for long periods of time, and that can cause that large black spot effect to hang around for awhile after the exposure.

BUT........I think it might be better to err on the side of caution, because you've recently experienced the coloured wavy lines and blurred vision, and get the health of your eyes assessed by a opthalmologist or you optomotrist if you already have one, it definitely wouldn't hurt to be cautious, right?

Cheers........JJ
