Hi Laura,
Slightly broken has given you excellent advice - instead of wondering, please get back to your doctor's office and ask what the purpose of this biopsy is for. Inflammation could be one cause of thoracic lesions but there could also be other causes.
It sounds like your doctor is doing the appropriate thing by ordering this biopsy so that are sure to deal with it correctly.
keep in touch, ok?

Hi
Usually when a doctor orders a biopsy of anything, it is for diagnosis purposes. A thoracic lesion is usually taken through a needle biopsy under the guide of CT scan or some other radiologist imaging help.
I would ask your doctor what exactly they are looking for, and wanting to diagnose through this biopsy. Inflammation can be seen on MRI and this could be inflammation...but from "what" is the question. I would ask your doctor what he feels is causing the inflammation and then you will have your answer as to why the biopsy is being ordered.
