5 week constant headache

woke up with a major headache on December 12 2012.  Has not stopped at all. nothing relieves the pain. it is dull, throbbing feeling of pressure.  stabs of pain come randomly on the top/middle/right hand side, always same spot.
it hurts when i wash and brush my hair,  and when it is cold (being outside) or after shower.
i am tired, dizzy, and have tingling in my hands, feet, and head.
Doctor has not ordered any tests.  says its migraines.  I am concerned that he is missing something since he only spent a few minutes with me and gave me topamax.  Have had tylenol 3, morphine, and gabapentin  for the pain.
still not helping.
Does this sound like a typical migraine??  Why won't it go away?   I am 40 years old, diabetic, never  diagnosed with migraines in my life

Thank you for your comment!  I think that is my concern, i keep researching migraines, and it doesn't sound like what i am experiencing, and my doctor won't do any tests, because he says its migraine, based on very little.   I may have to try another doctor for a second opinion! Thank you kindly for responding.

Hi there!

Headaches can be caused by a variety of reasons often categorized into primary headaches, secondary headaches, and cranial neuralgias. The primary headaches include tension headache, migraine cluster headaches and similar pathologies. Secondary causes can be due to sinusitis eye problems, etc and the cranial neuralgias that include the trigeminal neuralgias. Without a clinical evaluation it would be difficult to differentiate between these, though with the description this does not typically sound like migraine. I would suggest getting this evaluated by a neurologist at your earliest convenience for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate management.
Hope this is helpful.

Take care!
