Carotid blockage 100%

I am from India, right side Internal Carotid artery of my father aged 66 years is found to be blocked 100%. Is there any way out to clear the blockage. His left side ICA,Main and ECA has normal flow.

    What if the blockage is above the point where the artery divides between the cheek and the brain?  Is EDTA of any benefit, useless, or dangerous?

Hi there. Your father’s right side internal carotid artery is completely blocked which means he may have had symptoms of a stroke or a transient ischemic attack TIA. Some of the symptoms could be weakness, blurred vision, slurred speech. Non surgical options available are regular carotid artery checkups with tests every year. Medicines to lower cholesterol, blood thinners for decreasing stroke risk. These medicines are aspirin, clopidogrel  and warfarin.
Surgical options are to remove build up of plaque in his carotid artery and should be undertaken since it is 100% narrowed.  If he has had a stroke the doctor would consider if surgical treatment is safe for him. The risks of having another stroke without a surgery against risk of having serious problems from the surgery itself. Carotid angioplasty and stenting and carotid endarterectomy are the two options.
