Desperate for help with ear related dizziness

Hi - I am a 51-year-old female.  Three months ago (end of January 2009) I began to have symptoms of a severe sinusitis attack.  After various doctor visits, I went to an ENT in February who diagnosed me with eustachian tube dysfunction and recommended ear tubes to allow my eustachian tubes to have time to work correctly again.  For the last three months I have also suffered continuous dizziness/lightheadedness with extreme fatigue and a feeling of head 'fuzziness'.

I tried some alternative treatments for the dizziness, to no avail.  I am now scheduled to go in on May 18 to get ear tubes inserted.  I would love to have the following questions answered:

Because the nature of my dizziness/fatigue seems to stem from my eustachian tube dysfunction, will the ear tubes equalize the trapped air/fluid (whichever one it is) behind my ear drums to the extent that it will rid me of this dizziness/fatigue?

Is there any possibility at all that the ear tubes could for whatever reason make my dizziness worse?

I just want my life back - I am not the same happy person I was three months ago and I desperately need to feel like I have a chance, with the ear tube surgery, to get my life back.  Any responses would be very much appreciated.

This discussion is related to lightheadedness.

I completely sympathise with your situation. I am currently battling with my own version of dizziness/fatigue/headaches/a fuzziness in the head that just won't quit.

I have had a lumbar puncture, an MRI, consults with a neurologist and an ENT specialist and seem to be a similiar stage to you were back in May.

Can i ask did the T-tubes / grommets work for you?? Did you try steroidal decongestants?

Hope youre on the mend.

I have a history of vertigo for 40 yrs and Minere's and Ocular Migraines.....I really sympatize with you....I find the best place to get some questions answered is the Internet......I found a site for you
http://www.dizziness-and-balance.com/disorders/symptoms/etdysfunction.htm

If you don't use computer, get somebody to go to that site and it explains some of your questions...........I would certainly try the tubes (anything to relieve the dizziness....I saw where allergies can cause what you have....but if you aren't getting the relief you need, I would go on to an Otologist for second opionion....an otologist is a little more than an ENT and I am fixing to go to one myself....will be interested in how you do but I really don't know how to follow someone on this board...anniemom511
