Hi,
What symptoms do you have? Why did you get a MRA done?
Your MRA findings show three small aneurysms. A brain aneurysm is an abnormal bulging of one of the arteries of the brain. Brain aneurysms are asymptomatic before rupture. Although some patients can experience peripheral vision deficits, sudden changes in behavior, poor concentration, and in coordination.
Sudden severe headache, nausea and vomiting, stiff neck are indicative of an aneurysm which is about to rupture. Please watch out for these symptoms.
Not all unruptured brain aneurysms are treated. A neurovascular specialist decides if an unruptured aneurysm needs treatment or not.
I would suggest you discuss this with your neurosurgeon. You can drive around but not very far and do keep a watch on any new symptom.
Take care!
THANKS DOCTOR NOOPUR YOUR RESPONSE WAS QUICK AND VERY HELPFUL. I'VE HAD PERIPHERAL VISION FOR LIKE 2 YEARS OR MORE BUT MY PCP DON'T SEEM TO UNDERSTAND WHAT I MEAN WHEN I SAY MY VISION IN ONE EYE OR THE OTHER BUT NEVER BOTH IS IN MY TERMS KALEIDOSCOPE LIKE. I WENT IN FOR A RAPID HEART RATE AND THE RIGHT SIDE OF MY NECK HURT LIKE I SLEPT WRONG AND THE RIGHT SIDE OF MY BODY FELT NUMB LIKE I WAS GIVEN NOVOCAIN ON THAT WHOLE SIDE OF MY BODY AND I FELT LIKE I WAS INTOXICATED AND I DON'T DRINK BY CHOICE AND A LITTLE OF BALANCE. WHILE THERE IN ER THEY ADVISED ME OF A CAROTID BRUIT AND LATER A TIA AND WHEN I GOT THE RECORDS I LEARNED OF THE ANEURYSMS. I HAD NO CLUE ABOUT THESE THINGS I WAS JUST TRYING TO GET THE NAME OF THE DOCTOR WHO REMOVED MY THYROID BECAUSE A. I FORGOT HIS NAME AND B. TO MAKE SURE I DIDN'T NEED TO FOLLOW UP WITH HIM. TODAY I GOT THE REST OF THE DISCHARGE REPORT AND GUESS WHAT ? I WAS SUPPOSED TO FOLLOW UP WITH HIM 2 WEEKS AFTER THE SURGERY AND THAT WILL 2 WEEKS AGO TOMORROW. IT WILL BE A MONTH SINCE THE SURGERY ON THE 26th THIS SATURDAY. THANK GOD FOR YOU I FEEL A LITTLE MORE AT EASE DON'T GET ME WRONG I'M STILL SCARED BECAUSE I HAVE NO CLUE WHAT TO DO FROM HERE BUT AT LEAST I'M BETTER INFORMED THANKS TO YOU.... OH ONE MORE QUESTION SHOULD I DRIVE? ROSIE
P/S I WISH I LIVED NEAR YOU !!!!
Hi Rosie,
How are you?
Since you have peripheral vision deficit I would advise you not to drive unless you really have to.
Please follow up with your surgeon who did thyroidectomy and if possible schedule an appointment with a neurologist and seek his opinion on the aneurysms that you have. Do remember to carry your MRA report with you. Take care!
Thanks Doctor Noopur youv'e been great. I don't have the peripheral vision all the time just now and then.
Hi Rosie,
If you have do not have peripheral vision consistently you can drive around but please be careful. Do keep us posted!
