FACIAL NUMBNESS AND PN IN FEET

I have posted before and hope to get an answer soon.  I have also read all the posts on facial numbness but none of the symptoms are ones in experience.
I am experiencing waves of numbness across my face, from left side down and across my jaw bone and nose.  It gives me a sensation of dizziness and does not always occur with the PN pain.  What is is!  

Also, I have heard of several other drugs for nerve pain and would like to know what is best recommended, as the Lyrica (600 mg/day) is causing extreme side effects - weight gain (35 lbs.) - hair loss, and short term memory loss, which comes and goes.  I would like to find something that has less side effects and helps with this pain.  I am seeing a new doctor Monday and would like to know what to ask for for pain.  My Neurologist says I have PN and all I can do is take the meds and live with this.  I believe there must be something out there I can do to stop this pain which is now moving up my right leg.  Please answer soon, thanks!

Thanks for the input.  I do take Alpha lipoic acid, but not the L Carnitine.  I will look into that.  Healthy eating is something I do half the time because of the food my husband likes and same for our son.  I have to force or disguise broccoli for them to eat it.  so I often resort to eating the healthy foods  when they are not home.  However, our son is starting to wise up to the healthful eating thing.

How expensive is the L-Carnitine?

I saw a podiatrist today who in a couple of short tests determined all the PN is from the back issue which is what I have been saying to the other doctors.  They
gave a script to Cymbalta again, 30 mg for 7 days then up to 30 mg for 7 days then go back to the doc and .................................

Nutrition can be a great modifier of nerve pain. Eat healthy - no junk. Alpha lipoic acid and l carnitine are prescribed in Germany but can be obtained over  the counter here.
