Facial/Body twitches, need answers

I have been experiencing twitching symptoms since I was 14, I am now 27.  Each day is different, but what happens is my face will contort/twitches and my whole upper body shakes, it lasts about 4 or 5 seconds and I sometimes have the rare occasion where it will not stop until someone shouts my name or touches me to break me out of it, however I only get 3 or 4 of those a year.  Also, If I have alot in a day I will get a slight headache. I am fully conscious as I am twitching but am unable to stop it, I am also still able to move around normally but twitching as I do it. I noticed it is more prominent if I am in the sun for a long time and get overheated or I drink caffeine/alcohol.  I have had a EEG and MRI done and it has turned back normal. I am just wondering what this might be, I would love to find a cure.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello dear and welcome to the medhelp forum. These are muscle twitching or fasciculation caused by minor muscle contractions. The causes can vary from caffeine overdose, exercise, heat exhaustion, nutrient deficiency, stress and sudden withdrawal of certain medications like benzodiazepines, magnesium deficiency if you had prolonged diarrhea. You need to consult a physician to evaluate the symptoms and possible causes, if there is any change in sensation or muscle size and weakness, blood tests including electrolytes, thyroid function tests, electromyogram and nerve conduction studies. it is good to hear that EEG and MRI have been reported normal. Management would be according to the diagnosis. Wishing you all the best.

Sounds like ET or BFS.  In my opinion, it is something benign.
