Gadolinium the new problem

I have been having pain right after a series of MRI contrast. Every other test has been clear. I have been pushed about as if I am crazy. Is it that every authority on the subject of MRI's and gadolinium regurgitate what has been written. Has the medical community completely shut off their cognitive reasoning.

Yes it is true gadolinium is non-radioactive. But that does not mean it is safe. Gadolinium is a lanthanide. It is a heavy metal. It has a few properties when its temperature changes and when exposed to magnetic waves. It has to be chelated when injected into the body. Why? BECAUSE IT IS TOXIC in its free state. Mercury, lead... heavy metals as well.

Chelate is when the a bond is created between 2 things. Your body chelates iron in your blood. It removes things by chelating. There are chemicals that when added to things can make them somewhat safer. DTPH-gd3 or something like that is gadolinium with DTPH. The DTPH chelates to the gadolinium and makes it soluable in water and keeps it under wraps. It flows in your blood and creates outlines that are viable when exposed to magnetic waves.

Here is a FACT. Some people suffer from a rare condition that when given gadolinium their calcium levels drop. This is because the bond created with the DTPH prefers things like calcium and zinc. When it drops the gadolinium for these other metals you know have free gadolinium. Everyone no matter who will have a certain level of this problem. And consider that not every batch of the chemical is perfect. People with kidney problems are unable to remove the gadolinium quickly. DTPH-gd3 have a half-life of 2~3 hours, which means that in that time 1/2 of the gadolinium is removed from the body. The bond in Omniscan and the like is not really stable and breaks down quickly. This means that if you are unable to remove the toxin in a certain time, the greater your chances of having more free gadolinium in your system.

I was fine till after the MRI's contrast. I keep hearing the same thing. Just because the FDA says one thing and that it has been used since 1988 and on millions of people means absolutely little. The ADA still says mercury fillings are great, and they make 5 million in royalties every year dispite the younger generations of dentists who refuse to use it and all the evidence to the contrary. I could go on, but because it is prolific does not mean it is 100% safe.

People have different levels of tolerance. People with good kidneys remove the waste rapidly, however, some will de-chelate. You will get some in your system.

I know the literature I have read it. I have talked to "professionals" but no one can answer me intelligently. The companies that produce these drugs make money. It does not benefit them to start a discourse on its possible failures. I am an econometrician. I understand statistics. The tests done can be made to say anything. Depends on what you leave out.

Fact
gadolinium is a heavy metal

Fact
It must be chelated to be put into the body

Fact
I can de-chelate and will do over time.

Fact
Everyone who gets gadolinium will have some in them

question
How do you remove it?
Can your body remove heavy metals on its own?
What can we do to help remove it?

I read one study and only one where the author claimed that gadolinium is removed from the body at less than 1% per day. Is this true.

If you know of a good resources post it.

Thanks.

Just saw this group. I can't believe how many of the symptoms I have!  I've had many MRI's. The first one for a back injury. The ones that followed over the years have mostly been to figure out the problems that appeared afterwards. That's when they said I must have Fibromyalgia, Chronic Pain Syndrome and Chronic Fatigue. All from a back injury!?!? How do I find out if I have Gadolinium poisoning? I also was diagnosed with MFH Sarcoma. A soft tissue cancer.

from the FDA website:

15. What information was known about serious side effects prior to the approval of gadolinium-based contrast agents?

"The five U.S. approved GBCAs were approved between 1988 and 2004.  In the combined pre-marketing studies for these approved GBCAs, over 3000 patients were studied.
The most common serious side effect from GBCAs is an allergic reaction that is usually mild but is occasionally severe and even results in fatalities.  Some patients develop skin conditions, such as rash, sweating, itching, hives, and facial swelling.  GBCAs can be very irritating to the veins into which they are injected, causing irritation of blood vessels and skin and the formation of blood clots.
Very few patients with severely compromised kidney function or those on dialysis have been studied in clinical trials. The labels for GBCAs caution that the risk of toxic reactions may be greater in patients with impaired kidney function because gadolinium is mostly excreted by the kidney."

"Even results in fatalities"…well, that's enough for me!

Am scheduled for an MRI with gadolinium this week.  Was told by the MRI facility that I can just refuse the gadolinium (which I plan to do) and have the MRI.  He said the MD's can possibly get what they need without the contrast and if they don't, I can make a decision later about using gadolinium.

Having been exposed to contrast with a CT scan years ago, I am really loathe to allow this material injected into my veins.  Also, had an adverse reaction to a flu shot (which is why I'm having the MRI!) so I don't want to take the risk.  I am not sure how my MD will react but he's not the one having the stuff injected into his body.

Very interested in discussing your issues.  Not sure if people are following up with posts or if the Gad Doc would give us more public information on contacting him.  Not sure how many people have just given up or don't know what they are suffering is caused by Gadolinium since it is dismissed by the medical institutions.

My husband almost died from his Gadolinium injection due to blood clots.  We reported several symptoms, many noted by others as typical, and they were dismissed.  He felt he had the flu since all his symptoms were dismissed.  It wasn't until he blacked out that we went to the ER and found out that he had multiple blood clots in both lungs.  Since then deep body aches in ribs, chest, and hips.  Tingling in arms.  His entire life he has been complimented on his blue eyes.  Now, they do not show up because of the discoloring of his whites which are now discolored to a grayish color and not white.  Swelling, aches, pains, rashes, lymph node from x-ray was white from an infection, I can give a long laundry list that continue to go on and on that were not there before.  FDA site states the manufacturers own study had proven blood clots related and a death.  Our story was buried.  Doctors have no clue and say we know more about it than they do.  Can't find reason for all of his issues he has now.  Kidneys, liver, heart, etc. perfect before MRI.
