unknown cause

Hello,

I had a pain on the right side of my face starting from my ear and making its way to the top right quardant of my head.
The pain was a stuning pain that took my breath away. I could be in the middle of a sentance and it would strike. I let the pain go on for 2 day as I was finding some relief with tylenol. However the 3rd day I went to the ER room to get some help because the pain was unbeleiveable. They did a CT scan and a MRI, MRE and a spinal tap to rule out Meningetis. all were clear. They sent me home with seizure medication and said to follow up with my doctor which I plan on doing. If I had throat cancer would it have shown on any of the test that were performed? I feel like I have lost some hearing in my right ear during this whole thing do you have any helpful questions that I can ask my Family Physican when I go?

Hi there.

Throat cancer maybe unlikely in your case and also, it would not have been evident with all the tests done to you.  From what you have described, I would be more inclined to think of a primary nerve problem (a branch of the facial nerve or trigeminal nerve) since your scans did not show any tumors or masses that may impinge the nerves.

I suggest that you continue with your medications and have a formal consult with a neurologist.

Regards and God bless...
