I had Cymbalta in the hospital and it really did a job on me! I was ataxic for three days, could not lift my head off the pillow and then it gave me a migraine...I told the lowest dosage available. 30mg. That was enough trouble to keep me from taking it. Everyone reacts different just be aware that it can cause more trouble then it is worth.
I forgot to add that. It caused sexual dysfunction at the lowest dose almost immediately, like within a few days.
it sounds like the big side effect is sexual and then getting off of it is supposed to be hard as well. thanks for your input!
I've been on Cymbalta for well over a year for Fibromyalgia. I take 60 mg a day. It helps with depression and makes the pain easier to bear. I did not gain any weight and have not experienced any side affects. I really think this type of medication affects each person in a different way. It might be worth a try. I wish I didn't have to take it because it's expensive, but it really helps me.
I took the low dose of Cymbalta for cronic pain for 3 days and could not sleep at all, got very buzzed. When I told the doc why I stopped taking it, he added Rozeram to help sleep. That helped for 2-3 hours. I was told you needed to take it for several weeks for it to work well, but I decided I could not go that long without sleep so stopped taking both. I now take Mobic and sometimes Relaflex ( muscle relaxer) at nite.
I did try it for a few weeks even though I am against taking medications. It did nothing for me except give me extreme nausea. It was prescribed by a fibro doc for neuropathic pain. I also gained 3 pounds which bothered me since I try very hard to keep a normal weight. I only took 30mg a day, a very low dose. I personally won't try another antidepressant. Some people report good results from Cymbalta.
