I'm a 24 year old female with a current sinus infection. I was coughing deliberately to loosen mucus in my chest when I noticed my head turned a certain way. My head was at an angle and my chin was inward towards my the front of my neck on the right. I coughed again and I felt pain on my neck. The corner of my jaw had hit my neck. It felt like it hit a vein but I'm not sure. I've been cautious about touching my neck too hard due to what I read about the carotid artery and how people have gotten strokes and arrhythmia from touching it too forcefully. I looked this up and I discovered CAD and that trauma to the neck and coughing could bring it on. Now I'm scared that this happened and I'll get a stroke. I read that CAD is rare but some many common things can bring it on. Does it sound like I hit my carotid artery? Have people hit this part of their neck before and not gotten CAD? I have no bruise or scar where I hit.
