Internal shaking/tremor in back - stress related?

The night of 9/11 I went to bed like any normal night, nothing new, nothing different. When I went to bed I rolled onto my right side for what I thought was going to be a normal sleep. About 5 minutes into my sleep I woke up to what felt like my bed was shaking. Turning out I feeling a internal shaking in my back. This sensation has been with me since. When I say "internal" I mean that I physical feel like my back is shaking, tremor-ing, or maybe twitching but none of these sensations can be seen or felt on my skin.
I have noticed though that once all these started I also had some bad back pain. The next  morning I went for a walk and my whole back was just killing me throughout. So I was thinking it was related.
I know two days prior to the internal sensations I did a very hard and quick weightlifting session. I went much quicker than I normally do and probably used some back form also. Then the wednesday of I walked about my university campus for about a good 6 plus miles with a very heavy backpack on. Then I went to work where I stood for about 4 hours. So the 48 hours before the internal sensations happened I did put a lot of strain on my back.
Over the past week and a half I had had these sensations I feel like they are slowly improving (knock on wood). I dont notice them as much or I find myself searching for them when I can still. These sensations never had much of a pattern or rhythm to them. Just I have noticed s lot more tension and tightness all over my back. Sometimes I can feel the muscles knotting or turning. I had someone felt by back and they said "it feels like your muscles are doing the wave".
I get other weird sensations on my back also, crawling, pins/needles, buzzing... right now as I type this my back feels a bit sore and tight. I also have been suffering from a lot of lower back pain. Sometimes it hurts even when I sit down, it is constantly there when I walk.
These sensations are only present in my back, i have felt them no where else in my body.
I have been on no new medications and live a pretty stress free life. Although i am aware these things could be stress related.
So is there a chance I could hear why i have been having these internal shaking sensations in my back?

Hi:

My daughter had a similar problem, with the tremors and waking up feeling like it was an earthquake and stuff. The doctors couldn´t find anything so I took her to our homepathic/ acupuncture doctor and he said that it could be a thyroid problem, or as someone pointed out here, a pinching of the back or neck nerves. She´s all better now after a few treatments of homeopathty and acupuncture.
Another thing we noticed was that she has recently come out of a salmonela infection, and doctors say that this bacteria leaves certains toxins in your body that can freak you out for years.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi!
I am sorry to hear about your medical problems.  In all probability all the sensations you are feeling along with tremors or shaking is due to pinched spinal nerves in the back. This could be due to disc protrusions. Pinched nerves can be diagnosed through MRI, EMG and nerve conduction studies.
The treatment is usually conservative with rest, traction, physiotherapy, pain killers etc. Please discuss with your doctor. Take care!

The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you. The advice may not be completely correct for you as the doctor cannot examine you and does not know your complete medical history. Hence this reply to your post should only be considered as a guiding line and you must consult your doctor at the earliest for your medical problem.
