Just wanting some help with the smell of smoke

For 7 days now I have been smelling smoke, cigarette smoke. Now it is mixed with a sweet smell,(just started yesterday)  I called a neuro doc, he will not see me till june. I do suffer from migraines, I had one over the weekend. The smell just got worse. I have to take a sleeping pill just to go to sleep, b/c the smoke overwhelms me. This is something I thought about not thinking it could be related but Now I am thinking it might be. About two weeks ago in the middle of the night I woke up with a pain that went from base of my neck right side in the back up to the front of my head. It lasted only for about 3 mins, to be honest I thought it was just a break through migraine. So I went back to sleep; I never gave it any more thought till now.
I did go to the ER, and the ER doc said I should see an Nuro, and he also pulled a CT scan he done on me 3 months ago (migraine related) and that was fine, and he done an basic nero exam, which was fine also. I feel like they just think I am crazy (I do have bipolar disorder) and are not taking what I am telling them serious.

Should I push to be seen sooner?  Any input anyone has will be great.
Thanks

Hi Gracie!

These constant smelling of smoke and other odors may be part of your migraine.  These are called "auras" and these auras can (but not always) herald an impending migraine attack.

Also, medications for bipolar disorder can also give rise to this phenomenon.  I agree with a neurologic consult and I hope you can see him earlier.  He may adjust your medications and be sure to report to him everything that you feel.

Hope this helps.  Regards...
