A history of damage as demonstrated by the MRI may result in memory loss and degradation of coordination and thinking ability.
Your use of medical terminology is mixed up. Correcting this is beyond the scope of a post. Do a search on the terms that you are using.
That being said, "what's done is done".
The prescription of Plavix tells me a physician in the past determined you have had clots which have caused blockage of blood and oxygen causing death of brain tissue.
Often this is a result of simple dehydration.
I believe Plavix and Coumadin are overprescribed, and generally unnecessary, but once again, this is only an internet post. Probably, with three strokes, your physician would not want to take a chance on any other regimen.
You have had three strokes, and good medical practice would indicate the medications prescribed are consistent with the prevailing norm.
You should be taking omega-3 supplements and pomegranite supplements. The pomegranite will do what the Ezertrol alleges to do.
I am reluctant to suggest anything for the fibromyalgia or rheumatoid pain because my suggestions would cause problems with the meds you are taking.
Thank you for the information.
The symptoms I now have are chronic pain from fibromyalgia or rheumatoid arthritis, also neurological pain and tingling and numbness in my fingers and hands, as well as my toes. I started experiencing burning sensations in localized areas of my body 10 years ago. It seems to stop and start irregularly, and moves as well. The only way I could previously describe the neurological pain is by saying my skin hurts. Now it burns too. I had a severe facial smash when I was 18, I'm 59 now. I know my emotionals changed after, and my memory was effected too. My memory gets worse all the time, my Mom has alzheimers and is 89 and I seem to get more and more like her every day. A neuro-psych evaluation indicated I have some problems, the sort that come from the frontal lobes.
I stopped drinking 25 years ago (I'm an alcoholic) and stopped smoking 20 years ago. I'm doing my best with all the other risk factors but still struggle with my weight. I take Plavix as a blood thinner, BP and diuretic meds, Ezetrol for cholesterol (I couldn't tolerate statins). I'm sorry this is so long but I have been sick so long and never able to get out what I want to say when I'm in front of a doctor.
Hi,
The white matter hyper intensities on MRI indicate stroke in the past history. Memory loss is one of the features of stroke. It is important that you keep you risk factors for stroke under control if you have any.
The risk factors include high BP, diabetes, high cholesterol, high triglycerides, obesity, chronic alcoholism and smoking and stress.
It is important to know what symptoms do you currently have in order to advise you whether or not you should see a neurologist.
