MRI of head normal - Sinus issue???

While I am waiting for all my stretched out specialists appointments & testing (physiologist pain management + leg EMG + Neurologist + Neurosurgeon to review MRI), I am enduring a lot of pain....... especially at night.

I have left side pain & numbness from my head to my toes (numbness comes and goes, pain is constant).

I am also dealing with dizziness, vertigo & sinus/allergy trouble that comes & goes.

My question is related to the head problems --- due to repetitive sinus infections, bad vertigo, etc. I have been under the presumption that a lot of my head problems are due to a "deep" sinus problem, for which I need to see an ENT.  However, my neuro problems are so much worse, that I have neglected this issue...

What I am wondering is, when they did an MRI (without contrast) of my head (which was normal) - would they have been able to see deep sinus problems on that??  Since it was "normal" should I be wondering if this pain in my head/pressure is caused by something else (migraine?) or could I still have the perceived sinus troubles....

My vertigo stays with me...... and a few months ago was bad enough during a sinus infection to cause me to pass out briefly at work and be taken to the ER...  It's pretty bad... I just thought something from my sinuses would show on the MRI... ?????

Sorry you're having all these issues.

Regarding your sinuses, I don't believe they can clearly see problems there with an MRI. I have palops in my sinuses (operated on e few year ago, but returning and bugging me again) When my GP saw my CT scan at the beginning of my rollercoaster ride Feb '09, he said "your sinuses are screwed". I believe this is technical talk for EEWWWW!  Anyway, to my recolection no one has commented on my sinuses after reviewing my MRI shots, 3 so far. Not the radiologist, neuro, no one.

Good luck to you          Mike
