MS?

My first symptom was back last summer when i was feeling faint and my feet felt like sponge..
Second was in December 07 i was rushed to hospital with kidney infection dwhen they found i was retaining urine.. This has got worse since and i cath 5 times a day as i canot pass at all..
Since then i have sufferd spasms, cramp and numbness in neck, fingers and arms,
Heat seems to trigger symptoms..i had a hot bath and i started to vomit .
I am waiting on an apointment with Neurologist but symptoms are getting out of hand, my GP has prescribed deazipam, tramodol and sleeping tablets but they dont stop the spasms.

1.Will an MRI scan only pick up lesions if your having an eposode at the time?
2.Is my continuos bladder retention classed as an eposode?
3.Is there anything else other than MS that can trigger these symptoms?

Thanks Rachy x

Hi,

I'm new to all this but i just wanted to say that i don't think it is the case you have to be having an attack/episode to show up lesion's on a scan.I have had two abnormal scan's showing possible demyelination on my Brain and Spine and have one symptom of tingling around my Spine which i have not heard of in anyone here yet.Lot's of people have loads of symptoms and no lesions though sometimes they show up on a more powerful scanner like the 3T.

Suzie.

Hi There,
Apparently urinary tract infections and problems with urinating are signs of MS.
From my experiences it would be classed as an episode or attack. An MRI scan will show up previous lesions and scarring MS stands for Multiple Scarring or Slcerious.

Keeping your core heat of your body down helps ease symptoms and over heating. I find cool showers or baths best, I have stopped going into spa's or having hot showers.

Good luck
All the best hope all improves for you
