My mum aged 56 hasbeen diagnosed for Glioblastoma Multiforme Stage 4

my mum noticed numbness in her left hand early april this year 2010, had an ultrasound done, nothing was wrong with her hand. she was supposed to wait for the specialist to get back to her within the 2 weeks when she went into a seizure. rushed to the A & E Dept, diagnosed with a brain tumor. since she has been on a blood thinner medicine for the past 1 year due to a heart attack, she couldnt be operated immediately. had to wait another 2 weeks to allow blood to thicken, she became worse day by day, emergency operation was done on her. 90% of the tumor was removed from the right side of her brain. that was 2 mths ago, she stil hasnt recovered well, she has been on radiation therapy for 3weeks already, she sleeps most of the time, she is fed thru a tube, she stil cant move and now she cant even talk at all. her recovery seems very slow. doctors dont say much.

after the radiation therapy, she wil be allowed to go home and after a few weeks then a MRI wil be done to determine the chemo for her. my question is, how do i certain she can get better after the radiation therapy and do supplements work wonders to boost her immune system against this cancer returning back again? wat do i do to get her to speak and up walking soon? she looks so weak.

thanks guys.....its bad news for me too now cos docs want us to stop her radiation treatment cos the high dose that they have been giving her doesnt seem to hav any effect on her, its caused more swelling in her brain and thus she doesnt wake up frm her sleep at all now. the leftover cancer seems to b too aggressive to even b stopped by the radiation therapy. so i guess we hav no choice now, i n my sis are trying our very best to learn as much as we can in how to take care of mum so its gonna b easier wen we bring her home.

we want to fulfill her wish, wen she was stil talking, she wanted to go home. so home is wer she wil b from now on.

dad is the one very badly effected, he cant sleep or eat well, having to hav spent 39 yrs together and now its coming to an end.

btw, hav u guys heard of TRANSFER FACTOR supplements i heard it boosts ur immune system, thinking of giving it to my mum wen she returns home.

My uncle passed away from a glioblastoma multiforma.

I think if you pressed the doctors, they may be frank with you - but they may not want to come out and give you the direct news. There is no saying what any person may do - if she was super healthy before etc. she may do better...

My uncle made it through surgery and radiation, but he only lasted 6 months from diagnosis. I am so sorry.

my mum died of glioblastoma.  I wish I had better news for you but I'm afraid it's a hard road.  The survival rate for that is dismal at best. This kind of explains it. Scroll down to mortality/morbidity.
