Need Help! Head Tremor

36 female No children and have psoriasis. -

Have had approx. 30 days of action tremor in head only - "no-no" movement lasting only 1-2 seconds (I didn't notice it at first but my husband noticed it and asked if I was joking around).  Get the tremor every time I am in the kitchen preparing meals and looking down at a bowl, cutting bread, etc.. (tremor occurs at end or near the end of said task).  Most of the time when I am not in the kitchen i am not trying to do detailed tasks and there is no tremor (i.e., working while laying on sofa, watching tv, in car, etc..)

Since my husband pointed out my tremors - I do feel slight pressure in my head (very slight) I have now "noticed" the tremors since he pointed them out.

I quit smoking beginning of January.

Never had any type of tremors.  2 concussions when I was in elementary school - no other head trauma or major surgeries or trauma of any kind.  No tremor I am aware of in my family - no MS or Parkinsons or any other neurological issues.

Any ideas??

I don't drink alcohol (never have) and I don't take any medications, herbs (including herbal drinks), vitamins, supplements or anything else.

I thought Parkinsons usually required tremors when at rest (ie sitting) and I never have tremors at rest.

I will be seeing a dr once my benefits kick in next month.  Is it possible that it is a benign essential tremor?  Is the onset that quick??  Can it start in just the head??

Thank you!

Thank you for your question. Although without being able to examine you I can not offer you the specific advice on diagnosis and treatment that you need, but I would try to provide you some relevant information about your health concern.

Your head tremors could be associated with fatigue, stress, anxiety or a form of panic attack. Other possible causes of tremors could be overactive thyroid, Parkinsonism disease, alcohol use, certain medications, alkalosis, and low blood sugar. Sometimes previous injury may cause pinched nerve and may be a reason of tremor but this possibility remains low. Therefore, it is quite essential to thoroughly assess the all possibilities here with the help of a doctor. Hope this helps.
