Neurologist perplexed

I think I may have posted this in the wrong place before so I will re-post and welcome any input from people who have had the same frustration trying to determine what is wrong with them.
Two MRI's, one without and one with contrast. The one with showed nothing more than the one without. Neurologist calls and explains a tumor and MS have been ruled out, but she does not know what it is.  She says there is something there by the brain stem, but she does not know what. She's ordered a CT angiogram and a spinal tap. She talked about infection as I have mycoplasma and am being treated with long term antibiotics. I also have fibromyalgia which I am wondering if is really the mycoplasma reeking havok on my body and immune system. She suggested it could be that, but it's rare.
I have pretty severe neck pain from time to time, but I also have DDD which could cause that.
What caused all this was my memory. I could no longer do my job as I had severe brain fog and couldn't remember things I needed to know, so my Rheumy referred me to a neurologist.
I did an all day memory testing last week but no results yet.
Now that a tumor and MS have been ruled out, I am hoping it's not ALS or Altzheimers. I have no weakness in my extremities, just pain from the fibro which seems better. Maybe the antibiotics are working.  Anyone else had such a hard time being diagnosed? I know I cannot be the only one!

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi there. Cognitive dysfunction or brain fog is poor mental function, associated with confusion, forgetfulness and difficulty concentrating.  Causes can vary from menopause in women, fibromyalgia, ADHD, sleep disorders. Brain fog treatment involves correcting any underlying medical condition, hypothyroidism with thyroid hormone replacement therapy, occupational therapy. Neurofeedback can improve symptoms in some. Consult your neurologist since the cause for brain fog appears to be fibromyalgia in your situation. Take care.
