I am a 20 year old female and I have had right hip and lower back pain for almost 2 years now its horrible but ONLY happens at night I dont know what to do I feel like the doctors think Im making it up...I have had bone density tests done they showed some signs of oseopenia in my back but my hips look fine also an mri of my right hip came back normal doctors want me to go to a physical therapist and say its probably a muscle strain...A muscle strain for 2 years?! UGH how is that possible!!
I have had night time hip pain for a month now. I am 42 years old. Some nights I can no longer sleep on a certain side due to gnawing pain. I get paranoid when I think of a friend who developed bone cancer due to developing hip/pelvis pain. I am tall and thin and last year had bone replacement and several gum graphs due to bone loss in my mouth. Also, I had wrote in to Medhelp in Sept, complaining of weakness/numbness in my left hand. Any suggestions.
Hi,
Thanks for writing in.
Osteoporosis can cause hip pain. Other causes include trauma, arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, hip bursitis, tendinitis, subluxation of hip and joint infections. This requires further evaluation; please consult a good orthopedic specialist. In the meantime you can take OTC pain killers and make sure you do not over exert yourself. It will be a good idea to skip yoga for few weeks till the pain settles down.
