hi, i have been having mild symptoms which suggest some sort of meningitis in my opinion.
basically it started two years ago with spasms in the tummy. and then spasms in my limbs, back as well as eyelids (twitching).
from then on in the months to come, the above symptoms come and go, each time new symptoms accompany it.
i experienced dull headaches at the back of the head. tingling sensation at the same area as well as down my spine. i also have sore neck and shoulder, photophobia, fatigue, rashes, floaters, rapidly changing bowel colors (it's different everyday), white tongue that replenish its coat every other day.
at one stage it got quite serious, but everytime i went to the doctor's the symptoms are not so severe. I'd always told them i suspected meningitis but because i never had any fever, they dismissed it and all requests for a blood culture test were turned down.
i read online according to some medical papers that adult meningitis usually have little or milder symptoms and fever may or may nt be present esp in viral meningitis.
it seemed like all the doctors i've seen only thought of bacteria mengingitis. I kept going to the doctors because i still get some of the symptoms and to my horror, one even said she will refer me to the mental hospital because some mental patients feel tingling sensation when they aren't there. Absurd!
i've taken a Full Blood Count and no abnormalities were found.
all these spasms and fatigue is affecting my school work and i would really like to have it diagnosed.
i would like to know how can i request/ insist politely for a culture test to be done. If it is indeed viral, is rest the only treatment? because if so, i believed i would've recovered months back. but i've read on one journal that even if one recovers, some symptoms can still linger.
a bit of history: i have scoliosis (possible pinched nerve?) and due to a knee injury, i haven been doing vigourous exercise for 3 years. swimming and occasional walking is my exercise.
so what are the possible causes, if meningitis is really not the cause?
