Paresthesia

Hi. I am 23 yrs old and I am allergic to all pets that have fur or feathers, as well as tabacco, dust, grass, and dandelion. I take cetirizine hydrochloride and Rhinocort everyday. However, a few months ago, I started to get an itchy/tingly feeling in my teeth, throat, chest, and toungue. I got it almost everyday, and sometimes for several days straight. My doctor said it might be a side affect of the antihistimine. So, I have switched to loratadine and have been using this one for a few months. However, the paresthesia still occurs. It has even changed so that it is in my whole bottom jaw, and sometimes in the top of my mouth. I thought it could be low B12, but I had that tested fairly recently, and it was fine. I do have low iron though. Finally, I find that it can be set off by anything from an allergen to breathing too deeply. Do you have any idea of what the cause could be?
Thank-you.

I never considered that it could be the Rhinocort. Yes, I am taking it for allergic rhinitis. I'll definetly ask my doctor about it.
Thank-you.

Hello.

It would be prudent to rule out Budesonide (Rhinocort) adverse effect as the cause of your symptoms. I suppose you are taking the nasal spray for allergic rhinitis. Has your ENT specialist examined the oral cavity to rule out any oral candidiasis? Apart from oro-pharyngeal candidiasis, Rhinocort has been shown to cause burning, itching in the oral mucosa and pharyngeal wall.

Allergy to some thing, during some part of life for everyone is common.
So this is more about complication of your allergy and you should be very cautious not to have these precipitated by the things you are allergic.
As you have already changed an antihistamine it is of very low possibility that it is an adverse effect of cetrizine.
But i advice you to try some more antihistamines and then come to a conclusion of what suits you the best.
Ask your clinician to advice a fexofenatidine etc and see what suits you the best?
Best of luck and take care.
