Pins and Needles in Response to Heat

Hello:

I am a 31 year-old male.  I've been having a sensation of pins and needles and it appears to be happening when my body gets overheated.  I've noticed some pins and needles in my chest for quite some time now when I work out.

Lately, it's been getting worse.  Now I get it when I'm in a hot shower, or bundled up in my coat and hat in my apartment prior to walking out the door.  It also happens when I get excited emotionally.  Especially when I go into fits of laughter, as I often do.

The pins and needles happen mainly on my chest and arms.  Though, I have felt it on my head, when I swim for exercise.  The sensation is followed by itchiness.

Any ideas as to what this may be?
Thank you.

I had this for a while. It happened when I was hot, and beginning to sweat. I have good news! I have found an easy cure! Someone suggested it might be related to Eczema. So, I switched my body wash and body lotion, and the symptoms have almost completely disappeared! I now use Curel "Itch Defense" Lotion. It says it is "Advanced Ceramide Therapy" and is "Fragrance free for dry itchy skin". I think this was the biggest help. Just in case, I changed body wash to Aveeno "Skin Relief" body wash. It says "Fragrance free, gently cleanses and moisturizes to soothe itchy, dry skin". I can't believe the difference! What a miracle! Try it!! Trust me it 100% works,.

I have this problem when I engage in any sort of physical activity. It feels crazy for a few minutes, the moment I start sweating, the feeling goes away.
Also, I never had this problem when I was in India (I am from India) and Tokyo (I lived there for about two years). I noticed it immediately after arriving in Germany.
I am student here in Germany and can't afford to go to the doctor for this, as my insurance does not cover this.
Any sort of help would be great.

I have drove myself crazy trying to figure out why I can't get relief of the same thing your having. Mine happens after a shower, laying down in bed, sitting watching tv with a blanket and sometimes just random. I was recently diagnosed with neuropathy because while trying to sleep it has now started causing burning pain through my toes but the itching started about 5 hrs ago and now it's every day! I am having more tests run next week and all signs point to my RA causing this as my rheumatologist has said but I can't make myself come to terms with that being the cause because it feels awful! I describe it as pins and needles that makes you want to scratch all over my arms and legs. I now take lyrics instead of gabapentin and only 2 a day, it helps a bit more but not stopping it. I hope you find relief and just wanted you to know your not alone

I have the same condition and I am so thankful that there are others with the same condition. I've had mine for about 2.5 months.

I wanted to cover some things about the previous comments. I do not believe that mine is cholinergic uticaria. I have never seen any bumps or a raise in my skin. The only change comes from me trying to scratch the itch/pain/hell/heat/pins/needles away (which does not work).

I do have back problems from weightlifting and not stretching properly. I have fixed that now and have become much more flexible. I also rarely get back pain nowadays. So why do I get the pins and needles all over my body? It is strongest in my mid back but also present in my chest area and legs and a little bit everywhere else.

Also, someone proposed SFSN (small fiber sensory neuropathy). I don't know if that's right 'cause this occurs ONLY with increased body heat, nothing else. (anything that increases body heat, e.g. exercise, excitement, embarassment etc., also cause it).

Also, I've been a regular exerciser for many years now so it can't be exercise that caused it either....

Thanks for reading. :) Please help.
