I have muscle twitches and spasms, severe weakness in arms, legs, hands and feet, tingling and pins and needles, ear pain and dizziness, bladder pain, swallowing an issue at times too.
Doc says MS clinic, I think he's just trying to pass me off.... Nero says MRI clear and it's post viral. Post Viral causes you to become near paralyzed? Been like this for 3 mos. getting worse not better.
Any advise will be so much appreciated.
thank you.
Hi Leslie,
I have similar problems since january. It all started with a muscle twitch in my neck ( which I actually heard in my ear) and nausea that lasted about a half a minute one day. I didn't think much about it untill a week later when it returned with a headache, mucsle cramps in my legs, muscle spasm in my neck, dizziness, numbness in my arms, weakness. My doctor said I had a migraine and should go home take excedrin. Two days later I was passing out and got to emergency where I was given medication for my stomach, dizziness and allegries (???) - patted on the shoulder and told I will be fine in a week. Meanwhile It's been almost 7 months.
The X-ray of my neck showed that the muscle spasm straightened my cervical spine. So somehow I got to see a chiropractor. He found out that because of my tight muscles my spine started curving. I have to say he was working on my muscles very patiently and they are slowly improving. I have also got some supplements from him and it also seems to help. I can't say the doctors were very helpful in my case. In fact after one medical check the muscles in my legs cramped so badly that I could barely walk for weeks. I had spine MRI, nerve test and some bloodwork done. Everything came out fine. My new doctor scared me with MS and now is trying to tell me I have anxiety. I don't and I'm not going to take any medication for it. Simply put, my body is burned out and doesn't want as I want.
My symptoms are comming and going. Some of them will go away and new will appear. Here are some of them;
mucle twitches - mostly when I', sitting or laying on them. ( can't avoid that...), muscle cramps, muscle pain, tightness, tremors, chills, nightsweats, nervousness, ringing in my ears, sore eyes, sore throat, pain and weakness in my pelvis, heat and cold intolerance, rapid heartbeat ( I was told the holter monitor showed it also slows by itself so it's fine...) I'm not sure if my problems were caused by a virus or stress ( I had some ) or if it is a combination of both, but I figured out what helps is lot of rest, moderate exercise ( like walking ), massages are very good as well. Magnesium helped me a lot. I'm also taking B complex. I also listen to my body. If I feel worse after eating certain food I simply don't eat it anymore. If I need rest I rest. AlsoI'm trying to eliminate the stress. It's getting slowly better.
Hope you will get also better. I don't think you have a serious desease. Try to stay calm ( I know it's not easy ).
Marta.
Hello,
I got sick with a stomach virus back in November. Within 7 days after the virus I could not walk and had ascending numbness. I was admitted to the hospital for neuro workup. We were told it could be Guillan Barre or MS. I had 4 MRI's all down my spine and brain. All came back perfect. I had a spinal tap and this also came back normal. I had a ton of blood work and all of it came back fine. So my neuro diagnosed me with GBS/post-viral syndrome. My question is that I am so concerned that I am still having symptoms. Some of the symptoms are new. I have a new neuro and he thinks I have anxiety and put me on Clonopin I do have anxiety about my symptoms but I don't have an anxiety disorder. I just want answers. What I need to know is that could it be possible for some disease (MS, Lupus, etc.) be lurking about that was not picked up on an MRI or spinal tap. I am sick of being sick. If anyone out there has something similar I would love to hear from you!!!!
Thanks,
LLeslie
Have your problems resolved???
Hi ! I hope you will consider joining the fibro / CFS community, if you already haven't. I think you will find a lot of people posting there, myself included, that you can relate to.
CFS / ME is a very real condition. On the health pages, I list tests that CFS patients are often failing. There is one test that apparently all CFS patients are failing... the Holter Heart test.

Hello Dear,
Post viral syndrome is not one illness, but a combination of symptoms caused by several factors. First step is infection by a virus There is no cure but most symptoms can be treated successfully. The first treatment recommended is a combination of rest, exercise, and proper diet. The patient is advised to attempt only the most important activities, to avoid over-exerting , and to rest whenever necessary. A moderate amount of exercise is important, but too much exercise can make the disease worse. Counseling and stress reduction learning how to better handle the pressures of everyday life can also be helpful.
Many medications, nutritional supplements like vitamins and minerals, and herbal preparations have been used . Some patients get progressively worse over time. Others improve slowly. Some individuals have periods of illness that alternate with periods of good health.. Most patients, however, find some relief by following a treatment plan that includes adequate rest, nutrition, exercise, and other therapies.
