Cyst between l4 & l5

My mother had to have a cage built around her l4 and l5 last year to help stabilize them and to keep them from rubbing together so that the cyst that had formed between them would go away (the dr. said it would go away on its own once her spin was stabilized and there was no need to remove it surgically).... Since her surgery, her mobility has slowly declined to the point where she is practically bed ridden because of the pain...  Her pain is a constant pain but not consistent in intensity....  Periodically, after she has been more mobile than usual, her pain becomes so intense that she can not move, then her stomach gets extremely upset, she gets nauseous and vomits, and not long after, her pain is almost completely gone..... She is able to walk freely and move about with little pain... Then after about a day, the pain, pressure and burning tingling returns....  So my question is, is it possible that the cyst that was there before is still there and is causing pressure on her spinal cord or something that could be causing her all the pain and that could be the reason why she gets so sick periodically and then feels so much relief afterwards when it burst? If the answer is "YES", hen what needs to be done to fix the problem??
