Seizure or fainting?

I have been told by numerous people they think Im anemic, but haven't been checked yet. Well last week, I came home from work and was standing in the doorway having a conversation with my mother-in-law when I all of sudden got a feeling of standing up to fast (but I had been standing there for at least 5 to 10 mins) Everything went black and I woke up laying on the ground and she was standing over me yelling my name, She said I looked very confused, and I couldnt answer her for a few mins. She stood me up in the hall, asked if I was alright all I could get out was " I feel dizzy", then passed out again, she said before I hit the ground my body bucked like I was going to have a seizure (she has had one before, and knows what they look like) but by the time she got the phone to dail 911 I was sitting back up on the floor looking around bewildered. She asked me questions,I normally would answer fast, but it took me a few mintues to get out the answer. I was fine afterwards other than having a terrible headache behind my eyes, and on the back of my head close to where it meets the neck. It was VERY SCARY. What is causing this?

Any time there is a loss of consciousness of unknown etiology the drill is to immediately visit an emergency room. Do not pass go. Do not collect two hundred dollars. My vote is with jensequitur in that the liklihood was you fainted, however the reason for the blackout must be determined as soon as possible.

While you definitely need to see a doctor, my personal opinion is that you fainted, rather than had a seizure.  Had you eaten anything recently?
