Well, that sounds normal. Sometimes certain neuromuscular disorders/diseases present in a specific pattern, i.e. affecting the lower extremities first then the upper extremities.
The physician could be looking for a number of things as far as a disorder/ disease.
An EMG evaluates and records the electrical activity produced by skeletal muscles.
they did do my lower leg and foot on the same side as the arm/hand, but seemed more interested in my hand which I am assuming they are checking for fine motor skills??? I have numbness, tingling, burning pain in my feet, stabbing pain in my lower legs and thighs, problems with coordination and balance, burning pain in my lower back-- to name a few! :)
Hmmm......why would they be doing an EMG on your upper extremities and not your lower extremities? I am NOT sure what they are looking for.
What exactly are your symptoms in detail?
