Strange Symptoms

My 15 year old daughter has been having "episodes" of dilated pupils, lasting hours at a time, and short episodes of blurry vision, lasting only a few minutes, and also short episodes of very sharp head pain, again, lasting only a few minutes. She does not use drugs at all, and she is very active in Color Guard - so may get hit in the head occasionally - but denies a recent injury. She saw an eye doctor, all checked out ok, they said no swelling of the optic nerve. She had a CT scan, again, all ok. No other tests were performed, and she was sent home and advised to keep a "headache diary." I am not very happy with what I feel was a less than thorough exam, and I am trying to get a referral to Neurology from our health insurance company. Does anyone have any ideas as to what the cause may be, or what type of tests the doctor can perform to look into this further?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi there. I would suggest that your daughter should undergo a clinical examination for any evidence of injury. A brain MRI  is advocated to rule out any concussion. Otherwise she could be suffering from migraine headaches and double vision and mydriasis. This diagnosis would be based on clinical analysis and exclusion of others.
Let a neurologist examine her in detail. Take care.
