Hi
I was diagnosed with Occupital neuralgia in Wales. When I went to teac in Spain I was rediagnosed with Tension Headaches! The headaches would usually finish up with pain in my top right gums. The dentist said it was not the tooth but neuralgia. The headaches were SO bad - no med would shift them. I stopped eating cows cheese, oranges and chocolate. it helped a great deal. Then the Spanish Neuro Consultant prescribed me with preventative med - a very low dose of anti depression tablets (Sertraline 50 mg at breakfast time and Amitriptyline 10 mg, in the evening - I now have only half a tablet am and pm) which thank the Lord have changed my life! Ask your GP or Neuro Cons. re this. Hope it helps - I suffered for YEARS before!
Hello.
Surgery is quite a safe option. You will have a significant relief from the pain. Just make sure the root cause of the occipital neuralgia does not recur. I guess it was from an injury to the neck!?
