Synthroid replacement?

My wife had a crainiotomy to remove and optic chiasm meningioma about a year ago.  She is still fighting hypothyroidism due to the fact that the tumor was pressing on her pituitary gland.  Since synthroid hasn't helped we recently went to a doctor that has prescribed armour thyroid.  Any comments?  Any negative reaction we should look for or expect?  Thanks.

What are the chances of the tumor growing back?  Have you seen any studies that discuss her life longevity when such a problem occurred?

Hi,
Thanks for writing in. Synthyroid is a thyroid replacement drug which provides the body with only the T4 form, where as Armour thyroid supplies with both T3 and T4 forms of thyroid. Side effects are usually associated with over dosage and they are vomiting, convulsions, coma, heart failure, hypoglycemia etc.
Discuss with your physician regarding this and follow her advise.
Best.
