Hello,
I recently had quite a disturbing episode. To give some background, I had taken a recreational drug in a large dosage the night before, and have been drinking quite a bit of alcohol for the past few months. I went through the day reasonably fine when I was sitting at home and felt a little off. All of the sudden my left arm had a sensation of pins and needles which quickly spread to the other side. Pretty soon my body felt numb. I could move but it was almost like I could only move my arms straight out and it was hard to even feel them. I couldn’t move my fingers at all and from the waist down felt nothing. I had blurred vision slightly and felt as if I had tunnel vision. I was very disoriented after and couldn’t think or speak right. To make matters worse, I somehow managed to wet myself and had no idea I had until I got to the ER. The doctor chalked it up to with drawl from drugs and alcohol and said It could’ve been convulsions mixed with an anxiety attack. Also to note, my heart rate was all over the place at one point being 150 then dropping down quite a bit back and forth. There were no EEG;s done. Just an EKG and I was given Ativan. Does this sound like It needs further investigation? Could it be a panic attack? This was terrifying and I have never experienced anything remotely close to this before. I have had anxiety attacks and usually I just feel very worried and tap my feet and maybe shake a little. Ive never lost control or partial control of my motor abilities and bladder functions. Please let me know what you think.
Thanks.
