Transient immune response from H1N1 vaccine

I received the H1N1 vaccine 11/8.  That night the tingling in my hands and feet began.  It has since radiated to my arms, legs, back, face, lips, eyes etc.  Early on, I experienced muscle cramping, pain and a racing feeling.  I never had reflex or strength issues.  33 days post vaccine my symptoms still intermittently show themselves.  I have been to 2 neuroloigists, had a nerve test,  blood work and an MRI.  All test were fine.

On this Medhelp site, there is a blog  in the immunization section where many people have responded experiencing similar symptoms post vaccine.

My question isn't "what do I have?" as I know it is some immune response/poly neuropathy triggered by the vaccine.  I would like to know how long these symptoms typically persist.  A month, two months a year?

My Boyfrind Had both flue shot and the H1N1 Vaccine done 3 weeks ago since the vaccine he had headacks more offen then usual.
also since the vaccine he has had numbness all on his left side like a stroke that lasted for 5-7minutes the same week he received the H1N1 Vaccine.
He chucked up as to maybe sleeping wrong the first time .
Now Two weeks latter he has experinced it agian and again all on his left said after letting me know about it this time he called his Doctor and was told to come in to the ER Immeditly .
He was taken in Immeditly and was asked all the routine questions that you would when someone has experinced a stroke the ER doctor asked if he had his flue shots and H1N1 and some others He told them he had the flue shot and H1N1 shot .
He blood pressure was high and was told he was going to be admited even before he had his MRI .
After his MRI His regular Doctore came in with the news Not Good they had found 2 leasions on his brain one on the left and one on the right the 2 were diffrent in size the one on the right being the larger one the Doctor said was the one causing his stroke like symptoms on his left side .
The Doctor said we do not know a lot about these except for them being new and very young but growing quickly and not realy sure what they are exactly and how they got there.
after keeping him in that Hospital for 5 and a CT Scann and a 2nd MRI from his chest to his pelvis and constant blood work found nothing to support it being cancer and was transfered to another Hospital that was more equiped and use to treating tummors and other more serious matters .
once there was asked all the same questions as the first Hospital did not once but twice once by the Nurse and the 2nd by the Neuroligest with in 1/2 an hour was told he would be going home the next day but to return on Tuesday for Surgery to remove the smaller one and to do a Biopse on the Larger one to see if it is something that could be treated by Raideation.
The Neurolgyst said the reason for taken the smaller one because it is on his speach
part where the other sits on his vision but the test given to him he is passing and again they are suprised considering the size and position of the leasions on his brain.
His sisters and I got to talking and had asked me to do some foot work to see if I could find anything online about this type of thing I found on one sight where kids had leasions on the brain show up after having the H1N1 vaccine.
The other thing I found was that A butcher shop that had pork products in it was tested for the H1N1 virious and found positive in all the pork in the shop.
That make you think about what you eat .
so after reading all these stories and finding people haveing simuler things going on
and giving the fact that non of these things had occured with him untill he had the H1N1 vaccine makes me think this is not cancer nor a tummor but may be an infection but even still ther is no sighn of a feaver his blood count is normal every thing that would lead it to be an infection or cancer is comming back normal except for the fact ther is something on the brain.
So My Question is There a test that is not being taken that should be to narrow this thing down .
Or if such a test even exists ?
Can you Please help us
Thank you lightfeather1968

Shelly,
Yes I had gastrointestinal problems. I also had bowel and bladder problems. I could not pee for about 48 hrs.I was constipated for a week.My stomach felt horrible.I had this weird side pain that was thought to be my galbladder. But it was neuropathy pain.I have to eat alot of fiber to make sure things keep moving even now.Its like I have IBS now.Unfortunatly those are all common issues with TM.
My TM diagnosis was not a simple one. At first I was told that I was anorexic and suffering panic attacks..All my tests were comming back normal because they were doing the wrong tests. It took 6 months for me to find a good neuro  and to get a dx.I told him all my symptoms and that they started after a cold. He said I was classic TM .At that time we thought that my brain MRI was normal It wasnt until he ordered another one due to migraines that we found the lesions. He compared the 2 and they had been there alll along. My neuro said because my symptoms were relativly mild(mild is all relative) that it was TM. I have never had a lumbar puncture....I had evoked potentials and they were normal. But he still thinking possible ms....
I have mild athritis in my cervical spine that was found during my mri.
Poor thing colitis that must have been horrible...
I agree you dont want any autoimmune disorder..But for me I have to deal with the cards I have been dealt...
Please Take Care.....Theresa

Thank you for your question. Although without being able to examine you I can not offer you the specific advice on diagnosis and treatment that you need, but I would try to provide you some relevant information about your health concern.

Though the most common side effects of H1N1 vaccine could be muscle aches, fever, runny nose, wheezing and headache, possibility of Guillain-Barré syndrome that causes muscle weakness and paralysis is quite rare. Earlier some cases of GBS have been reported with vaccine but they were in very rare instances. If you suffer continuous muscle weakness or notice any paralysis of leg muscles, please arrange an appointment with a neurologist right away who will evaluate the possibilities here and can provide you an appropriate treatment. Hope this information proves helpful to you.

Take Care & Regards!!!

I just hope to get to a neurologist who is interested in finding out what is going on with me.  It seems GBS and TM have alot of similiar symptoms.  After I read your post to Zorf I looked it right up.  Did you have any of the gastrointestinal symptoms with the TM?  How did they diagnose your TM?  The weird thing is I have ankylosing spondylitis (arthritis of the spine) (very mild) I had ulcerative colitis when I was twenty and have an internal J-Pouch.  The two can go hand in hand.  (you can look up if you want)  I am sorry to hear about your brain lesions and hope it is not MS.  I have read studies of people who can still walk with GBS.- Of coursse I am not a neurologist and do not want any of the horrible neurological autoimmune disorders.  I should have never gotten the shot.  Shelley

The difference between GBS and TM is that GBS always causes paralysis. There really is no such thing as a mild case... It hits hard and fast.TM can be mild and have a slower onset. I had partial TM .I never had paralysis. My neuro told my no vaccines unless I am dying. It can reactivate the TM. With TM it can take up to 2 yrs to recover.I am about a year into this and I still have risidules. With TM your symptoms sort of wax and wane.Unfortunatly TM can be the onset of MS.I have brain lesions.TM/GBS do not cause brain lesions. So the neuro thinks I may be heading towards MS....
Take Care, Theresa

I hope your able to get to the neuro asap.....

I had the H1N1 vaccine 11/3/09.  I was hesitant as I have had "parasympathetic overload"  ( my autonomic nervous system went out of whack- amd I did have tingling in feet and hands) 2 and a half years ago after an intestinal virus that I guess could have been mild Guillian Barre.  Therefore I was hesitant to get the shot.  I have pretty bad asthma though.  Well, here I am feeling very similiar to you.  My autonomic dysfunction is back also.  I have digestive issues.  I went to a neurologist before it got too bad- and he said I have polyneuropathy.  Since then I have become increasingly weak.  Arms and legs ache and are hard to use.  It is like you went skiing all day the day before- but you didn't.  I am very weak.  I am trying to get into a neurologist at Mass General Hospital and hopefully will by Christmas.  Post Back.  Shelley

Hi,

You may want to look up Transverse Myelitis. It is an abnormal immune response that attacks the spinal cord. It can be caused by vaccines, colds or really anything that affects your immune systeme. Last january I had a cold and about 2 weeks afterwards I started to have neurological sysytems. I was later diagnosed with TM...
