I don't take any medication at the moment...except for some lorazepam to calm me down when the parethesias is so bad. I have been sick and off work for two months now and the symptoms have not improved at all.
It does sound similar. I have since been back to a Neurologist and he did many tests, then cleared me and sent me back to the Internal Medicine Dr., but my GP is sending me to a Neurologst that specializes in Muscle related neuro issues. My upper body seems to be the worst area now and the soreness in my legs has somewhat subsided. My GP has also referred me to a University hospital research unit to see if they can figure this out.
I am wondering if you also get extreme weakness? I feel like I have low blood sugar or low blood pressure sometimes - like i am faint, yet my vitals are all good.
do you take statin drugs (for high cholesterol)? they do horrible things to your muscle and nerves.
I am having sorta the same thing. It started just a few days ago in my legs. And then goes up my arms and in my face. When i walk it felt like electrical shocking sensation throbing up my legs. If i turn to fast i get dizzy and disorented. I do have mid back pain and my legs usually hurt. But, this is all new and very scary. I got right in to my primary doc. and he gave me gabapentin generic for neurontin. And i take loratab for my back pain usually so it is helping but i'm consered that i am only treating the symtoms and the problem. I would love to know what is causing this. Should i get a second oppinion...? And if so where?
Hello callctr2000,
You should go in for a MRI of the spine to rule out spinal stenosis, degeneration, disc prolapse or any other pathology causing the numbness and the tingling.Nerve conduction studies and electromyography should be done .You should consult your neurologist and discuss regarding the use of drugs like lyrica, gabapentin and conservative methods like physiotherapy.
