Trigeminal neuralgia

I suffer from trigeminal neuralgia and am currently taking BACLOFEN to help with the pain. I was treated with the Gamma Knife about a year ago without success. A friend also had TN and was treated with an alcohol shot to the face that had to be repeated about 4 weeks later.  That was over 10 years ago and he has had NO pain since.  I can find only passing references to the alcohol shot to the face.  My question is where can I go to get this alcohol shot to the face? The doctor that treated my friend is deceased so I can't go to him and I can find NO doctor that will talk to me about this.

wow its crazy to hear of someone else who got it young! i have had bilateral TN since i was 15 (now 21) and am getting MVD surgery in nov & again in dec. I have used tegretol baclofen and neurontin in the past and found nuerontin to be the best by far in regard to side effects.

I'm 26 and I have had Trigeminal neuralgia since I was 12. So far Tegretol and Gabapetin have done the trick. However I'm at the highest doses and the pain is returning. I have a lypoma (fat tissue) on the nerve and had some of that removed when I was 14.

I'm looking for a good Nuerologist who know about TN and is in Toronto. Can anyone give me a suggestion. Or any other advice on how to deal with this. I'm just starting to look into things and am scarred at the repetitive nature of TN since I hope to have a lot of years ahead of me.
