When the TRUE IMAGE is on top

I have been seeing a Neurologist for other problems and one was double vision. I am awaiting blood tests and the last MRI to come back.  I am confused as to the eye problems. I have had two bouts of vertical double vision (crystal clear) for less than 2 minutes.
Now I consistently have vertical double vision with contrasting objects. Night time or day as long as the objects are light and dark.
The Brain MRI came back with slight inflammation of the LEFT optic nerve. He did a VEP which came back with problems with the RIGHT eye. I also have right side neck pain nothing noted on that MRI. LEFT ear pain that is not a ear infection.
SO with all this I'm wondering what the thoughts are.
I also have the TRUE IMAGE on the bottom and the false on top always.

I take no offense. With some people the ear pain lasts for a long while. With most patients the duration is two months. You are one of the unlucky ones. There is nerve impingement, which may be from infection or physical displacement, such as by a neuroma. The ear pain  often (not always) exhibits periodicity, building to a climax, then disappearing for a while, then returning. Your neuro exam will attempt to determine the reason for the nerve impingement.

No offense but no it doesn't always just go away. I've had this for three months. Have neuro-optho appt later this month.

The ear pain, which can be very severe, goes along with this diagnosis. It too, generally goes away after a month or so with or without treatment.

You need a consult with a specialist called a neurological opthamologist. Your double-vision is due to inflammation of the crainial nerves, which is probably due to slight infection. A neuroma or aneurysm is another possibility, but you have had an MRI ruling these possibilities out. In most cases this clears up within two months. It usually is a self-limiting problem. Diabetics are especially prone to this problem.Treatment is to wear a patch over the affected eye not more than 12 hours a day, anti-inflammatories, and some physicians recommend anti-viral meds. 1000 mg of vitamin C a day helps. Many physicians use a week or two of prednisone. The downside of prednisone is that it may make the infection worse by depressing the immune response.
