Why does a brain cyst become a diagnoses for catatonic schizophrenia?

Christmas 1995 my brain was in a lot of pain when my thoughts came to a point. I was lying in bed when something exploded in my head created what felt like large sperm shaped things tearing my brain up with teeth and claws. I lost my emotions, my affect and became completely math oriented. The explosion came from the top forward part of my skull underneath the the top of the brain in between the two hemispheres slightly what feels towards the right. I was diagnosed with catatonic schizophrenia. I'm wondering how the two are similar. Or what could have been done to prevent the treatment I went through before others fall through the mental health treatment plan.

Hi.Organic illnesses such as cysts on the brain can cause psych symptoms and arn't schizophrenia. However some narrow minded psychiatrists arn't even aware or arrogantly don't take into consideration that organic illnesses can do this and will therefore diagnose-or i should say misdiagnose-anyone with such symptoms as having schizophrenia. What was the treatment you went through?

Hi,
How are you? Catatonic schizophrenia is one of several types of schizophrenia, a chronic mental illness in which reality is interpreted abnormally (psychosis). Catatonic schizophrenia includes extremes of behavior. At one extreme of catatonic schizophrenia, you're unable to speak, move or respond. At the other, you have overexcited or hyperactive motion and you may involuntarily imitate sounds or movements of others.
What exactly causes catatonic schizophrenia is not known, but there is coincidence with brain dysfunction, which is due to changes in neurotransmitters that are naturally available in the brain.

Risk factors include family history of schizophrenia, trauma, stress, malnutrition, viral infections, use of psychoactive drugs etc. Brain cyst is not related to catatonic schizophrenia, but there could be stress and trauma which could have led to catatonic schizophrenia in your case.
