Hi
There can be several causes for headaches like primary headaches which are not associated with any other diseases (example migraine, tension headaches and cluster headaches) or secondary headaches that are caused by some associated disease. Secondary headaches may be due to withdrawal from caffeine, high blood pressure, brain tumors, strokes, meningitis among other causes.
The exact diagnosis would depend on a detailed history with respect to the exact site, duration, time of the day, intensity, any associated symptoms like nausea, vomiting, visual loss, any neurological symptoms along with your past medical history.
Tension headache is commonly seen in most of the adults and is more common in females. There is a constant, band-like pain or pressure that lasts from 30 minutes to all day. The pain extends down to your neck and shoulders with a dragging feeling. Other features of tension headaches may include headache upon awakening, general muscle aches, difficulty falling asleep and staying asleep, chronic fatigue, irritability, disturbed concentration, mild sensitivity to light or noise, and occasional dizziness.
You should consult a doctor for proper diagnosis if the headache is bothering you. Various tests such as blood tests, CT scan, MRI or lumbar puncture are usually necessary to establish a diagnosis.
Take care!
I know u r scared, but it's of something u think it might be....not what it is.....have u been in an accident, or a fall? Have u been to a dr for the head aches??Do u have a dx already?
Pains of any type can fall into many different conditions, so it's best to get to a good dr and get a dx..so u can start treatment.
Good luck
Godspeed
