chronic sinus pain-pressure

After years of allergy shots, years of sinus infections-relieved for 1 1/2 yrs from surgery (ENT), I have in the past 6-8 months suffered from severe (most often) pressure  and pain under my left eye and left sinus cavity. The nose on each side but more the left is still sore to press on. I went to an ENT recently. Results were severely swollen sinus cavity under my right eye and over my right eye-next step Cat Scan-results, clear no infection. Refer to neurology for consult and brain scan!!
So now that you have my history the confusion and fear for me is, why a brain scan? Do they think I have a tumor? What is this going to show and or prove to a Neurologist? I am desperate for answers. Please help.

Thank you for your response, I am grateful for input. I was panicked w/a brain scan to be honest. I have researched this web site and was amazed at the number of sinus issues  that can be migrane related. I get "headaches" sometimes but really was skeptical  that this is all migranes. I will call my primary on Monday to get a referral to the neurologist ASAP. To be fair, the original ENT did say I could try a Neurologist but I was in so much chronic pain, I had a 50/50 shot of any improvement. I took the 50/50 shot and have been infection free for the 1 1/2 years but just could not understand this pain.

Oh, this ENT told me I have acid reflex which has created polyps on my vocal cords to boot! I will be working on this w/him also. Sometimes it just  seems to keep on going. Sad to say, I have been "healthy" meaning no hospitaliztion (except for children), no serious illnesses nothing. Age 49 shows up and it seems everything is falling apart...;-) but I am working on one issue at a time. My primary is an amazing Dr and I trust her implicitly.
I will let you know how this fairs as it goes along.
I sincerely appreciate your help and input.
Best Regards,
Chris

Thank you for your question. Although without being able to examine you I can not offer you the specific advice on diagnosis and treatment that you need, but I would try to provide you some relevant information about your health concern.

Most likely possibility in your case could be a sinusitis pain that originates after mucus block or infection of sinuses and appears as a bad headache when you sneeze. That can be resolved after draining mucus from blocked sinuses. Another possibility could be a persistent migraine and aggravation of the symptoms by this. Since you are suffering from this pain from a longer time, please arrange an appointment with a neurologist right away. Hope this helps. Take Care & Regards.
