fatigue, dizziness, tics

my almost 17 yr old daughter (not child with pots) has been extremely tired, dizzy most of day, and suffered what we thought was RLS since last may. i now think the "rls" was the start of some sort of tic or seizure. she has recently developed an audible tic, i've not heard it yet, but my son says that when she's really bad she says "um" for no reason. we've had a sleep study, eeg, heart monitor (resting pulse rate is high side of normal for her age), mri. so far the mri shows all is well. results for everything else seems very slow in coming. my daughter has not been able to attend school since first of year, she goes to bed at 9pm gets up around 10;30am and goes back to bed once or twice during the day for and hour or so each time. our next follow up for our neurologist isn't till end of feburary (we are on the cancellation list) IF ANYONE HAS ANY ANSWERS OR SUGGESTIONS I'M WILLING TO LISTEN.  worried mom in virginia.

thanx, we've had blood drawn for thyroid and a 24 hr urin test....i can't remember what dr. said that was for. just to let you know her verbal tic is more frequent now (its just a simple word or sylibal  ) i don't correct her,  i am concerned though when we visit relitives tomorrow. her eating habits aren't great, but they aren't awful either, i really don't think there's a nutritional deficiency, unless there's is a medical prob. that causes it.

thank you for letting me know that the thyroid test is on the mark.

worried, but trusting God, mom in virginia

Hi,

Thanks for writing in.
It is important to make sure if your daughter is not suffering from any nutritional deficiency like anemia, hormonal problem like thyroid dysfunction.
Tics normally occur in people when they are tense or nervous. Try and make sure your daughter is not under stress of any kind. Also please make sure you do not correct her for the tic as it will only make matters worse. Tics usually go away by themselves.

Hope this helps!
