headache car accident

I was in a car wreck a week ago and have a coulpe of blood clots one on my arm and one huge one on my chest, 3 broken ribs. I have a plate in my neck from a cervical disk surgery 10 years ago.I recently had a epidual. Today I developed a headache about 5 hours ago in my head down by my neck, its vey painful and I cant eat, should I go to emergecy room and what should I request they do, like what type of test? Now days its seems like you have to tell them what to do for you or they just send you home the way you came.
Thank you. ccVinces wife

Hi,
Is your headache worsens once you stand up or sit down from lying position and relieved when you lie down?  If that is the case the reason may be the punctured dura when they did the epidural and called spinal headache and bed rest, OTC drugs and caffeine usually helps and will be fine in few days.
If it is severe then you have to go to ER and they can do a blood patch which immediately relieves your headache in most cases.  As you mentioned it is better to contact ER and ask them for suggestions.
good luck.

Thank you for your question. Although without being able to examine you, I can not offer you the specific advice on diagnosis and treatment that you need, but I would try to provide you some relevant information about your health concern.

Usually, head and neck pain may result due to post head injury and may last for weeks or months after the injury that caused from the injury of a fall, vehicle accident, or sports injury.  For treatment approach, first it is essential to get (MRI) done to detect the brain or spinal abnormalities after that injury. Treatment commonly may be suggested for symptoms such as pain-killers, some antidepressants, physical therapy and regular exercises. If you suffer continuous headache, please arrange an appointment with a neurologist right away who will evaluate the possibilities here and can provide you an appropriate treatment. Further referral to a psychologist may be also helpful in order to treat usual anxiety or depression after such injuries (sometimes one may have) that may be one of the aggravating factors for persistent symptoms. Hope this information proves helpful to you. Take Care & Regards!!!
