Neuro Mystery

My husband is a 38y/o white male, normal weight. About 6 months ago he had an episode in a movie theater that he described as severe dejavu & confusion. He got dizzy & kind of zoned out for about 5 minutes. He did not become unconscious, but he felt dizzy & had a headache. We went to the ER & all tests (CT, EKG, Neuro exam, Cardiac enzymes) all checked out fine. He continued to have severe headaches, confusion & dizziness especially in the evening. He was prescribed Topamax, which helped initially, but began to cause him severe chest discomfort. He stopped taking it at a cardiologist recommendation. He has been scanned from head to toe. MRI/MRA of the head & neck, CT of the chest & abdomen, 3-day EEG, heart echo & stress test, all normal. He had a Lumbar Puncture & the results showed an elevated IgG antibodies & a total protein of 116, all other values were normal. His neurologist tested his CSF for syphilis, it was negative. He continues to have headaches every night & these past 6 months have beyond difficult, neither of us have been able to work & are frustrated at not being able to find an answer.

Does anyone know what an elevated IgG level & total protein in CSF could mean in the absence of other indicators?  Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

My son is going through some of these things . All the tests, Topomax and the works.
They did a test called Mycoplasma which can only be detected with its with certain bloodtests and can only be treated with certain antibiotics. We find out results next week. If you look this up you can see if this may be something to help. It is a bacterial infection. This looks like the closest they have came yet. We have been through the same as you about everything normal. Worth a shot.

Just to let you know, lyme only shows up in the spinal fluid about 10-20% of the time even if you have it.  Not saying he has it but just FYI.

An infectious process like lyme disease.  Did they check for it?

Did they measure your husband's pressure during the lumbar puncture?   Also, did they check him for Lyme?
