Yes. The mechanism is by lowering the hematocrit, which sometimes occurs. A lowered hematocrit is viewed by the body as increasing vulnerability, and the "lizard brain" takes over (it's hard-wired), sometimes resulting in innappropriate verbal responses. The same thing happens when you take prednisone over long periods. In ab ER people who have blood loss will often become angry, curse and give everyone a hard time until they get a blood transfusion, and then, at a certain point the personality magically changes.
