If the hospital only put you on it for six weeks, and since I don't know the origin of your nerve pain, then whatever you were in the hospital for may actually not be painful on a permanent basis.  You see, I have permanent pain issues, I'm disabled from a car wreck that fractured and twisted my spine.  But you, if you haven't been on the medicine long, then perhaps give it a chance without it and see how you do.  You actually shouldn't feel as miserable as I had originally said, if you were only put on it as a temporary thing because of something fairly minor going on.  I don't know, you did not say.  My suggestion is, anytime you go to the hospital and you are in pain or are symptomatic for some reason, you should always follow up with a regular doctor to monitor your health issue situation.  And again, I'll add that if you do indeed need more of the medicine, and if your insurance covers it, Lyrica has much less concerning side effects, like nausea and headaches do not normally happen with it, but you will feel drowsy...altho that goes away after a few weeks.  I hope your pain gets better, let us know.

I can guarantee not only will your pain come back, but you will so miserable!  I take its cousin, pregabalin, for nerve pain in my back, and occasionally I run low on them and you would not believe how many aches and pains a person really has until they quit a drug to help all that.  It is a fairly mild drug, however, so it's not like you won't be able to function, you just won't be a happy camper.  If you can't afford your drugs, ask your doctor if they have any samples around, or your doctor might can tell you who to contact at Social Services in your community to perhaps get some monetary assistance.  If the situation is instead that maybe your drug makes you sick to your stomach (I tried your version and it did that to me, which is why I take pregabalin now), then tell your doc and they'll prescribe something else....keeping in mind that my pregabalin (Lyrica) is very expensive and SOME insurances do not cover it.  If you are just tired of taking the medicine, that's up to you, but you will notice the pain again very quickly, within a day or two at most.
